Biography

Even as I sat in the MEDEX classroom in 1998, I knew some day I would come ‘home’ to teach. I graduated from MEDEX in 2000, as part of Seattle Class 32, and worked for nearly 7 years at the Tacoma SeaMar Clinica de la Communidad, where most of my patients were Spanish-speaking. This provided a rich family medicine training ground, and I had the pleasure to train many MEDEX students as part of their Underserved Populations rotations through the years. In 2007, I began working at MEDEX part time, which became full time in 2008. In 2008 I also completed an MS in PA Studies with an emphasis in Forensic Medicine.
Currently, I am the Chair of the emergency medicine course and part of the dynamic MEDEX Admissions Team. My work in admissions allows me to reach out to students and groups in the region, and there’s no better way to share the mission—and the magic—of MEDEX and of the PA profession. I’m now working on a Doctorate in Global Health, and hope to help spread the good work of our profession around the world.
As a young child growing up on the muddy banks of the Wishkah in Aberdeen, Washington, I was in awe of scientists and doctors. I hoped that someday I could be smart enough, like them, to make a difference in the world. Through my studies and my work at MEDEX, I have, and will continue to do so far into the future.
